Kitu Systems Demonstrates Continued Commitment to Protecting Utility and Customer Data as Grid-connected Device Networks Scale
San Diego, CA | April 15, 2026 - Kitu Systems today announced it has once again achieved SOC 2 Type II certification, completing its annual examination under the System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 framework established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The recertification underscores the company's ongoing dedication to the rigorous data security practices required by utilities, energy operators, and enterprise customers who rely on Kitu's platform to interconnect solar, battery storage, and EV charging infrastructure.
Unlike a one-time milestone, SOC 2 Type II certification requires organizations to demonstrate sustained adherence to security controls over time, not just a point-in-time snapshot. Renewing this certification year over year reflects an organizational maturity that mirrors the maturity of Kitu's platform itself. The processes, governance, and discipline required to pass a Type II audit are the same ones that allow Kitu's software to operate reliably and securely at scale. For a company whose platform sits at the intersection of consumer devices, utility networks, and sensitive operational data, that alignment between organizational and product readiness is intentional.
“Our SOC 2 certification reflects a deliberate, organization-wide commitment to embedding security, availability, and data integrity into the architecture of our platform,” shares Kitu’s Chief Technology Officer, George Cagle. “Cybersecurity is a responsibility we hold in the highest regard, and we believe our customers deserve nothing less than continuously enforced, independently verified controls.”
The examination was conducted by independent auditor Insight Assurance and evaluated Kitu Systems across the five AICPA trust service principles: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Areas reviewed included:
- Controls quality and effectiveness assessment
- Risk Management Framework evaluation
- Vendor and third-party security review
- Vulnerability scanning, analysis, and remediation
- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery testing
- Third-party penetration testing
- Policies governing ongoing customer and employee data protection
The certification is particularly significant given the nature of Kitu's work: its SaaS platform aggregates communication from distributed energy resources and interconnects them with utility and customer management systems, environments where data integrity and availability are not merely operational concerns, but safety-critical ones.
